About the event

“The dance is not where we lose ourselves, but where we find ourselves.”  - Gabrielle Roth

💎 The three classes in November focus on the rhythms of Staccato: 11/4, 11/11, 11/18. There's no class on 11/25.

Staccato is the rhythm of a Warrior's Heart, powered by fierce love and rooted in deep integrity. When Staccato loses its heartful essence, it can become rigid, controlling, and aggressive. We easily fall into the trap of right or wrong, good and bad, believing there’s only one way — our way. As a result, our life force shrinks into a narrow stream of shoulds and shouldn’ts.

Practicing Staccato in 5Rhythms has taught me the true essence of Yang energy that lives in me. The magic lies in embodying the sacred paradoxes — being gentle yet firm, engaging in a difficult conversation to offer both truth and care, sitting in the fire of my vulnerability without losing compassion for myself, and dare to risk for love instead of hiding behind fear. Anytime and everywhere in life where it feels sticky and murky, there’s the opportunity to practice true Staccato.

As Jack Kornfield said, “We need a warrior’s heart that lets us face our lives directly, our pains and limitations.” I want to add, “Dance a lot. Dance your heart out. Be the fierce love you long for.”

5Rhythms® is a dynamic dance movement practice founded by Gabrielle Roth that focuses on body-mind integration and soul remembering through intuitive movements. It offers a movement map guided by five distinct rhythms: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. Each rhythm serves as a unique teacher and catalyst, carrying deep medicines for personal exploration and spiritual growth. As an Integral Somatic Therapist, I'm committed to creating a trauma-sensitive and inclusive space for all bodies. My classes are rooted in deep relational mindfulness, emphasizing the importance of being fully present in the Here and Now with all of our faculties, and with each other.
